Ferrari of Austin's Technician

Carl Murgas, who has been with Ferrari of Austin for the better part of a year, joined the team with 30+ years of experience working on both street cars and race cars. Carl spent 5 years with Ferrari of Houston’s premier Ferrari Factory race team Risi Competizione. As lead mechanic on the #61 F430 GT car, Carl was responsible for maintenance of the car, set up, race prep, driver direction, and maintaining proper performance of the car before, during, and after each race. During his time with Risi Competizione, the team took home 2 consecutive championships from the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as 8 podium wins in the 2007 season, 1st place Petit Le Mans wins in both 2008 and 2009, and 1st place 12 Hours of Sebring wins in 2009 and 2010.

Carl’s most recent stint was running a sports car race team based out of Chicago, where he brought a single-car, 26th place team in 2009 to a 3-4 car, full-time race program in Grand Am GS competition in 1st and 2nd place in just one year.  In addition, Carl also hired all part time personnel, organized all travel and accommodations, acquired new equipment and aided in all aspects of race car improvement.

Before that, Carl spent 5 years as lead mechanic at Acemco Motorsports, where he assisted in set-up and teardown of race-related equipment and assumed responsibility for all aspects of car preparation and modifications. He has spent time as Senior Tool Engineer, where he was directly in charge of 6 people and oversaw the production of work of 20-30 employees, who altogether were responsible for the set-up, maintenance, building and installation of the production machinery.  During this time, Carl was solely responsible for the design and purchase of specialized equipment.
